MANILA, Philippines – At least three mild earthquakes rocked parts of the Zamboanga peninsula shortly after it was hit by a magnitude 6 tremor that left at least three persons hurt.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said a magnitude 3.9 quake was recorded at 11:23 p.m. on Thursday. The epicenter of the quake was located at 19 kilometers northwest of Baliguian in Zamboanga del Norte.
Quakes with magnitudes 2.8 and 3.2 were also recorded before 2:30 a.m. yesterday.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs did not issue any tsunami bulletin following the earthquakes that hit Myanmar, Japan and Vanuatu.
Japan and Myanmar were hit by magnitudes 6.5 and 6.9 quakes, respectively, on Thursday while Vanuatu was rocked by a magnitude 6.2 quake yesterday.
