Newport News police to hold National Night Out kickoff event #JHedzWorlD
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — The Neighborhood Watch Coalition and the Newport News Police Department is holding a National Night Out kickoff event Saturday.
It takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Target, located at 12130 Jefferson Avenue.
The event will have activities for adults and kids, including educational displays, a band, an appearance from Bubbles the Clown, pony rides, a DJ, face painting and a car show. There will also be vendors on hand.
The Newport News Fire Department, the Newport News Sheriff’s Office, Newport News Libraries and Newport News Emergency Management are also attending.
Police say the event is “an opportunity for all of us to show support for our city and the community in which we live. By all of us working together, we can achieve the goal of making our city a safe place in which to live.”
